...for a different kind of girl

silent surburban girl releasing her voice, not yet knowing what all she wants to say about her life and the things that make it spin. do you have to be 18 to be here? you'll know when i know.

life's a bummer when you're a hummer

"hey mom?" sweet angel boy, five precious years on this earth, queries from the backseat of the mini as we pull into the library for story time thursday night.

the parking lot is full, so i'm keeping a watchful eye on things as i glance quickly in the review mirror and eye this amazing gift of a child.

"yes, sweets?" i reply.

"you like hummers, don't you?" he asks.

precious.

did i say that already?

utterly so.

"don't you, momma? you like hummers," he sings. "hummers, hummers, hummers!"

like pam from "the office," i find myself gazing forlorn and bewildered at myself in the rear view mirror now.

and then i spot the giant, pretentious, unnecessary in the suburbs hummer taking up two parking spaces in the parking lot.

"no, my love, i'm not particularly fond of hummers," i sigh. "not so much."

"that's too bad, mom, because i think the blue ones are my favorite," he answers.

as they should be when you're five.

as they should be.

* this one's not so bad, though.*

** ah, rs, you are a worthy opponent, but i believe this charmer has power. of course, consider it my initial blow. what's really going to take you down is this secret weapon. you wish to play with fire...well, you know the rest...**

*** sunday is supposed to be a day for rest. a warrior, however, never rests...

my next blow goes something like this.

what’s that? a tiny tear spilling down your cheek?

then i should probably celebrate...

if you need me, i'll be seated on the pile of the bloody and the dead, polishing my weapons...

My son wasn't into real cars at that age, transformers were all he wanted.

Guess he still does, he can't wait for the movie this summer. Heck, he's only 23. Plenty of time to grow up still!

Did you post this in honor of Wednesday's holiday?

All I could think of while reading this (outside of that dam video RS posted. Thanks BTW) is of a license plate bracket a guy in town has. It reads "Happiness is a hummer in a Hummer". Classic. Now that is a Hummer that I'd like to have.

Come on fadkog don't you like hummers? hummer hummer hummer! HA!

I was on the phone with a client at home one day when my son started running around the house yelling happily, "I have a penis!" over and over again. Ahh, to be young again. Although on the weekends I sometimes still do that. :)

OMG! You are my new hero...those links! I think I need to add a few tunes to my Ipod...I can't believe I missed those.

As for the hummer...I want one. A big yellow one. (I promise I would park it correctly..I hate inconsiderate parkers!) Everytime I tell my husband I want a hummer, he sighs and says wantingly "yeah..me too" Somehow I don't think we're talking about the same thing...

fusion - there is anticipation for the transformers movie at my house, too. and i admit to having some as well, but it may be because i have a quirky crush on shia labeouf. call me crazy...

lbp - between his art and his mind, my youngest is aging me at a nice clip.

ftn - consider this post my version of the half-mast honor for march 14th's holiday. maybe next year. ah yes. maybe next year.

and i, too, had forgotten when billy had hair. but i do remember when michael stipe had hair and I thought he was a smidge sexy. However, shortly there after, I realized he wasn’t really my type. Imagine that.

you da mom – ah, while my husband isn’t entirely clueless, i’ve been more an advocate of safe driving lately.

rug’s – i wonder if i should be concerned just how much this dear, sweet child takes after me?! hope your manicure is dead sexy!

art – ok, confession. sometimes i’ve run around the house yelling the same thing. i mean, i do have this fascination of what it would be like. must not let that distract me as i go about my business now…

steven – i’d probably love them more if i did, in fact, have the penis i sometimes wish i did (and the one i imagine i have is lovely, of course), but overall, i’m a fan of them as well. tThanks for stopping through.

finished – maybe iI don’t want to know what the result of your distraction was…

stacie – if you promise to park correctly, than i can tolerate it a bit more, but seriously, i’m always shaking my head when i see one. especially in the school parking lot, blocking the traffic during pick up time. and that song link you provided? nicely played! i have three versions of it on the ipod!

nanette – i think i’d be a fan of the codpiece with my pretend penis. i’d rock it like cameo, naturally!

chrissy – welcome! i’ll have you know, i kicked ass to that song you linked in the mini the other night. Oh, yes…i knew what it was before ever clicking the link!

confused, rs, lpb, et. all – it’s so cute how you think you’re so up on this. that you think i will bow down to defeat. that you really think “let’s hear it for the boy” is going to be enough for me to say “you win.” i have all these songs in my possession. i never tire of them. i’m made of steel. so let me suggest you bring out your starting team and let your benchwarmers go back to slacking down the row.

note that the only thing i lost at is getting a hyperlink in my comments section. so see the end of my current post for the play i’m serving up to you today…(and then clue me in so i don’t have to keep putting them in that way…)

chag - 'pop goes the world' will be used in my case study to prove to my children as they get older that, yes, the world was filled with beautiful music when their mom was an innocent. "every little boy needs a girl..." is a nice little story. thanks for dropping in, btw!

rs - big talk, mister. were you here, you'd notice the calm demeanor with which i type this reply to you. people who are scared are shaky, maybe inclined to beg for mercy. i'm looking around here, but i just don't seem to see that person...

Home from work now.

Ok. This is how you do it. Just replace the * with < and the ^ with >.

Got it? Here goes......

I'm going to type a link to my sight and here is how it would look *a href="http://cofusedhusband.blogspot.com/"^CH*/a^

That's how it works. basically you are useing < and > altenately. Where I typed my CH in the link you would enter whatever you want displayed in the comment section. It's just like when you link to a web page in a post.

If you have problems or questions email me. I'm home and bored in the daytime now. Summer goes back to work tomorrow morning.

So, since I THOUGHT we were supposed to be driving each other crazy, here's a little somethin somethin for you.... Make sure you copy and paste the whole link in there - and enjoy.
