'then we made our true love vow...'

Summer movie, had me a blast

Summer movie, didn't happen so fast

(Audio problems. Here's a clue. Check earlier next time!)

Went with some boys, cute as could be

Summer days, drifting away

To, uh oh, those summer nights.
The pictures? They suck. The movie? It didn't! Oh, don't go being a Grease hater and tell me it does because you know I am right and I will Pink Lady your ass if you bait me.
(And if you think you can then come in and say, "Well, Sandra Dee, if Grease is so good, then you have to admit Grease 2 sucks!" then think again! And then I'd say, "Hey, Wong Fu! You just can't walk out of a drive in."
Because I would totally combine a bunch of quotes from the movie and battle you! So when you say, "Bite the weenie, Riz!" you can expect me to gush "With relish!"
Had you been with me (and you know you wish you would have been!), we could have sang along to "Look At Me, I'm Sandra Dee." I may have with some of the strangers around me. It was especially cool to sing the line "Won't go to bed 'til I'm legally wed" with the six year old girl seated nearby me. Lousy with virginity, indeed!
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go get a hickey from Kenickie.
I hear a hickey from Kenickie is like a Hallmark card, when you only care enough to send the very best!
Plus, I love it when he talks dirty.

I'm just not a big fan of the flick... What I am a big fan of is your blog. Who I am a big fan of is you, your eyes, your alabaster skin and the rack (yes in that order)....

Oh, I'm a fan. BIG BIG FAN. I have great love for Grease AND Grease 2. I will go head to head with Grease quotes!

When they showed it in theaters in 1998 for the 20 year "anniversary", my girlfriends and I went to see it. Summer Nights started and naturally, I started singing, loudly, with the movie. Everyone in the theater was silent, and staring at me. I was all "Are you kidding me? You paid $8 to watch a movie they show on TBS 3x's a week? SING ALONG PEOPLE." And I'm proud to say, I got the party started.

High point: Everyone doing the Hand Jive.

Low Point: Everyone singing along to "Greased Lightning" and realizing what a dirty song that is to sing out loud.

Love, LOVE, LOVE that movie. Like Taja Summer, my sister and I went to see it in theatres back in 98. Opening night. The place was PACKED! Couldn't believe it. The thing that was harder for me to believe was all the high school and junior high kids in attendance. Unlike Taja though the people in theatre didn't look at you weirdly when you started singing. From the opening scene people were singing along and talking with the actors. It was awsome.

Now if only they would re-release Airplane! in the theatres. I'd see that at least 3-4 times. The first day.

Love it! My best friend had an big Betamax VCR, and we had a recording of Grease from HBO. Every single weekend we (Me and my 2 sisters and Jenny and her sister) picked our parts and acted out the whole movie while we watched it. I was the oldest and I was maybe 12 years old. We all played different parts until the end of the movie. That was when we all got to be Sandy. We got our black tights and leotards out from ballet lessons and pulled them down off our shoulders. Five little Sandys strutting through the living room singing at the top of our lungs! Great memories!

Savage - Oh, the eyes. Yes. The eyes do clinch it. But then, when have you seen the eyes, eh?!

Taja - I did the theater thing when it was re-released, too. And...and...it's airing on ABC Family this Saturday night. Back to back, baby! Anyone wants me, you know where to find me. Well, not really. You don't know where I live. But imagine me on a couch. Singing. Maybe dancing. Oh, no maybes. Hell yeah I'm dancing!

Oh, and low point of the viewing this week? The adults tittering with nervous giggles when "Greased Lightening" came on. Or maybe it was when the little kids were signing along to it perfectly. It was kind of a toss-up.

FTN - Well, you better shape up...

Stacie - Not a drive in, but I suppose close. We have no drive ins around here anymore. A nearbye suburb puts up a screen and shows outdoor movies one night a week for a month in the summer. This kicked off the season, and is probably the high point, considering next week is "Happy Feet".

CH - Thanks for being the dude who steps up and gives a little love to Grease! When we left, I told my oldest son that in 25 years, he'd be sitting at a park with his kids, watching "High School Musical" and singing "Get In The Game" with his kids. And then added that I hope I wasn't there!

Nan - Watch it, hey! I'm Doris Day! I was not brought up that way!

Keep your filthy paws off my silky drawers! Would you pull that crap with Annette?

so to speak...

I'll stop now before I do the whole song for you!

Choppzs - Oh, give it another chance. This is the movie with the kick ass "Cool Rider" song in it!! Try not to bounce when you hear that. I dare ya! The good times will carry you all the way through "Let's Do it For Our Country"!

Chrissy - I spent a summer staging a production of Grease in my patio. I was always Sandy. Always. Because it was my patio, my record player, my soundtrack and my keen virginal spirit that brought that girl to life!

Plus, honestly, the acting isn't much of a stretch!
